Do you want to understand the business around all the strange acronyms around telecoms? Do you know the new business opportunities behind the combination of your mobile phone, TV and Internet? Today we´re living the Renaissance of the Information Technologies. After the glorious days in the end of the 90´s and the "Dark Age" of the bubble burst, new movements like the Web 2.0 and the Convergence progress are changing the "Digital Economy".
Based on these thoughts we have come up with the idea of creating a TechIE Club. We expect it to be a forum and a resource in IE for the students interested in this world. Among our proposed activities, we want to prepare a "TechIE Day" for next spring, maybe other conferences/events and also to be a reference point in exchange of ideas about this exciting market (maybe you want to create the "next big thing" in internet?).
What do you want TechIE Club to be? We will make a brief presentation on the 30th of November at 4 pm at class P-312 (C/Pinar, 18). Those of you that are interested, please send us an email with your ideas and suggestions for the Club as well as if you’re willing to attend the presentation session to techie.club@ie.edu

¿Quieres entender el negocio que hay alrededor de todos esos extraños acrónimos de las Telecomunicaciones?¿Conoces las oportunidades de negocio detrás de la mezcla de tu teléfono móvil, la TV e Internet? Hoy en día estamos viviendo el Renacimiento de las Tecnologías de la Información. Después del esplendor del final de los 90 y la Edad Oscura de la explosión de la burbuja tecnológica, nuevos movimientos como el de la Web 2.0 y el proceso de Convergencia están cambiando la "Economía Digital".
Basados en estas reflexiones ha nacido la idea de crear el TechIE Club. Esperamos que sirva de foro y como recurso en el IE para todos los estudiantes interesados en este mundo. Entre nuestras propuestas de actividades queremos preparar un "TechIE Day" para la próxima primavera, quizá otras conferencias/eventos y también servir como punto de intercambio de ideas sobre este excitante mercado (¿quizás quieres crear el próximo bombazo de Internet?).

Diversity is one the banners of Instituto the Empresa: This year we have 57 different nationalities at the IMBA where Spanish are not majority any more! There are classes like the MMM with more women than men. All academic, professional backgrounds and all ethnics are represented. We guess there are students from all political trends and religious believes.
All IE community celebrates and fosters diversity, in which all members can freely express themselves without constraints imposed by dogma or dictum.
Given our diverse environment and the increasing visibility of gays and lesbians in society, a group of students with the support of the Alumni Association and Familie have decided to create and promote a Gay and Lesbian network among our current students, alumni and all the stakeholders of IE.
IEOut, the “Gay & Lesbian IE Network”, wants to be a reference for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgender (LGBT) and their friends at IE. This network wants to promote and spread respectful attitudes towards the Gay community and to foster best practices to integrate them in the Business School and in the workplace.

From now on we will meet the first Wednesday of the month at a chosen venue of Madrid.

The football pitch at La Chopera in the El Retiro park (the same place as last thursday) is booked for Wednesday 15/11/06 (tomorrow) 16:30 for ONLY 1 hour.
In the link shown it´s marked as no.23.
PLEASE be there 10 minutes before or on time, otherwise I can not guarantee you a game, as many of you saw last week that we had a lot of people (44 people) who want to play. We have the whole pitch booked just like last week so we can make 4 teams of 7 people in each and NO more. So the first 29 people can play and the late comers will have to try their luck next time.
We are in the process of looking for other pitches near IE that will allow us 2 hours each session (especially on Saturdays) so that even the late comers can have a game.

Por otro lado, necesitamos conocer cuál son vuestras preferencias para las dos sesiones partidas que hay en nuestro programa. Os recordamos que la sesiones 1 y 2 se desarrollarán simultáneamente (de 16:00 a 17:15 horas) y que los participantes tendrán que elegir una de ellas. Lo mismo sucede con las sesiones 3 y 4 (de 17:30 a 18:45). Para más información acerca de las mismas, podéis visitar la página del evento: www.ie.edu/netimpact. First and foremost on behalf of the IE Net Impact chapter I would like to thank you all for your interest in IE's first annual Social Responsibility Day themed "Find Your Impact", which takes place this Friday, November 17th. Finally, we need to know your choices for break out sessions. Below you will find a list of the 4 sessions. Remember that sessions 1 & 2 take place at the same time (16.00-17.15) and a participant can only attend one or the other. This is also the case for sessions 3 & 4 (17.30-18.45). Please send an email to Trace at thaggard.imba2006@alumno.ie.edu with your two selections that do not occur at the same time. Reserve soon as space is limited.

We will have weekly classes with an English-speaking private instructor who will teach us what we want to learn about salsa.
Level: Beginner (Could be different depending on the number and level of students)

2. MBA Tournament 2007 SALSA Performance
For those people who are interested in performing: IE will participate at the MBA Tournament in Paris in May next year! This will be a very interesting event and whoever would like to practice for this event can apply. There will be a selection process by the teacher. Once the members are selected, the performance coordination and preparation will start. The detailed process will be announced later.

Pablo Larguía started up Bumeran.com, an on-line recruitment site #1 in Latin America and #4 in the world. Backed by US and UK VCs, Pablo and his partners expanded the company throughout Latin America between 1998 and 2000. In December 2000, the company was acquired by TerraLycos. Within a six-month period at Bumeran-Terra Miami, Pablo left the day-to-day activities in the company.
In 2002, Pablo started Enjoy Entertainment, a new Film and Theatre Production company. Enjoy Entertainment produced the #3 most seen Spanish-speaking movie in 2003, "Lugares Comunes", winner of multiple awards in San Sebastian Film Festival. After that, Enjoy produced "ART", the most successful theatre play in Spain in year 2003. Instituto de Empresa Marketing Day 2006
26th October 2006 saw the second annual Instituto de Empresa Marketing Day. Over 100 students from the MBA, International MBA and Marketing Masters programs were present to experience and learn from the executives of 6 outstanding companies, spanning different industries and sectors.
The event was organized by the Marketing Innovations Club: Kysha Gibson (President), Vanessa Espasa and Cecilia Corripio, all IMBA06. This year marked the first time that the Marketing Day was in collaboration with Daemon Quest, who brought together the panel of prestigious companies: CitiBank, Coca Cola, La Carte des Vins, NH Hotels and Orange.
The day began with two workshops: ROC: Return on Customer by Daemon Quest and New Trends in Loyalty by NH Hotels. These workshops were well attended with topics geared at the analytical as well as the more traditional concept of the creative marketer. Each speaker explored the impact of their work and how their businesses were overcoming current marketing challenges. Students were able to meet and discuss how they could leverage their career in the industry and even learn about the opportunities that the companies had for MBA graduates.
After the workshops, Eduardo Fernández-Cantelli addressed the participants on the importance of marketing and introduced the panel members to the attendees. The panel consisted of: Daemon Quest’s Todd Stein (Partner), Citibank’s Angelo Impoco (Head of Credit Cards Business Development - Europe, Middle East, Africa); Coca Cola’s José Manuel Udaondo (Horeca Strategic Development Manager GCL & Operations); La Carte des Vins’ Javier de Rivera (General Director); NH Hotels’ Oscar Vega (Corporate CRM Manager) and Orange’s José María Cantero de Montes (Director of Marketing - Personal Business Unit).
Special collaborators, Daemon Quest, then chaired the panel (Yelena Zubareva - Consultant Luxury Goods) and lead an interesting discussion on the topic of the day: The Sustainability of Brands and the Future. The discussion drew on the speakers’ real-life experiences. The conversation spanned the telecommunications, banking, luxury, retail, FMCG, travel and hotel industries; with each speaker giving his unique contribution to the meaning of sustainability. Among the various debates, Coca Cola spoke about how it adapts to international markets while NH Hotels confessed that one of their secrets is ‘no surprises’ to the customer and Orange gave some insight into its recent switch in name and logo from Amena.
The event provided an opportunity for IE students to question the speakers on their methods and on the importance of brands and marketing as a means to target, capture and keep loyal consumers. Amidst such a diverse group the one conclusion that emerged was that sustainability lies in constantly innovating and that through only these means, perhaps, a brand can last forever.
The IE Marketing Innovations Club thanks Daemon Quest for bringing us their first-class list of clients and for making the high quality of the Instituto de Empresa Marketing Day 2006 difficult to emulate.

Hola to all photography enthusiasts and those who want to become one!
My name is Otmar Winterleitner, IMBA 2007 student, photography amateur and the organizer of the new PhotographIE Club. The purpose of the this club is to exchange photography related knowledge, getting to know better our class fellows, exploring our new and exciting environment in and outside of Madrid and of course HAVING FUN! Everyone is welcome to join, except those who have a bigger camera than me! :-) Well, regardless what model/type of camera you own or what your level of photography expertise is, please do not hesitate to join, also if you are a total beginner with a small point & shoot camera. I intend to have one weekend session per month, but depending on our MBA workload.
The first session will take place next Saturday, Novmeber 4th, at 12:00, on Pinar 18 building (P-211) and I am looking forward to welcoming you.
