La capea se hará en una finca de reses bravas en la localidad de Soto del Real en la falda de la Sierra de Madrid el día 6 de Octubre. Todo un día de risas garantizadas desde las 12 de la mañana. El precio: 35 euros si vas en coche o 40 si decides ir en los autobúses que hemos contratado.

The Capea will take place on Saturday October 6th, in a coutry estate in Soto del Real, a small town in the mountains to the north of Madrid. A full day of guaranteed laughs starting at 12:00 p.m. The price is 35€ if you go by your own means of transportation, or 40€ if you use our bus service.

And now what?? How do you get a ticket?? You can buy your ticket at IE's Student Office on Serrano, 99.

I'm happy to announce the activities of IE -TANGO CLUB for this year!!! (You can also check the IE-Tango Club video using the link at the end of the announcement)

Hola a todos,
¡Estoy encantado de anunciar las actividades de IE – TANGO CLUB para este año!!! (También podéis ver el video del IE Tango Club usando el enlace en fin de anuncio)

Intensive Tango Workshops: These workshops intend to teach you as much as possible in a short time period. They will include three types of dance: Tango, Milonga and Tango-Vals. (The first intensive program will be on the 6th of October 2007).
· Weekly Classes: For people who want to improve their technique and dance on a regular basis, there will be weekly classes given by well-known instructors from Madrid.
· Milonga Nights: “Milonga” is the name of both a kind of dance music and the event/place where people dance tango. They are usually organized in bars, pubs, hotels, restaurants and also in some open-air locales. Most of the people who come to a milonga try to dance with as many people as possible even though they don’t know each other. They generally dance at least 3-4 songs with each partner and they use the time between songs to chat and get to know each other. In Madrid, there are more than 15 milonga nights each week. We’ll be visiting different milongas each time. (Starting on Saturday 6th of October, we'll go to a milonga each week; in a different place and on a different day).
· Surprise “IE-Tango Club” shows: Before the summer vacation, we plan to perform in some special IE events. Performers will be the members of the classes throughout the year.
· SITGES TANGO FESTIVAL-July 2008: Tango and the beach!!! One of the most famous tango festivals in Europe. Sitges is a small town near Barcelona where they organize this wonderful festival every summer. This year’s festival will be held 16- 20 July. It will be a nice opportunity for us to travel, dance and enjoy the summer!

· Talleres intensivos de Tango: Estos talleres serán planeados para aprender tanto como sea posible a corto plazo e incluiremos tres variedades de la danza: Tango, Milonga y Tango-Vals. (el primer programa intensivo será en el 6 de octubre de 2007).
· Clases semanales: Para la gente que desea mejorar más y bailar regularmente, habrá clases semanales dadas por instructores bien conocidos de Madrid.
· Noches De Milonga: "Milonga" es el nombre de un tipo de música de danza y del evento/lugar donde la gente baila tango durante la noche. La organizan generalmente en hoteles, restaurantes y también en algunos locales abiertos al aire libre. La mayoría de la gente que viene a una milonga, intenta bailar con cada persona aunque no se conocían antes. Se bailan generalmente por lo menos 3-4 canciones con cada persona y se utilizan el tiempo entre las canciones para charlar y conocer a otra persona. En Madrid, hay más de 15 milongas cada semana. Así pues, visitaremos diversas milongas cada vez. (empezando el sábado-6 de octubre, iremos a una milonga cada semana en un lugar diferente).
· Demostraciones sorpresas del “IE-Tango Club”: Planeamos actuar en algunos eventos del IE antes de las vacaciones del verano. Las personas que participan a las clases durante el año, podrán actuar en estas demostraciones.
· FESTIVAL de TANGO de SITGES- Julio 2007: ¡Tango y playa!!! Uno de los festivales más famosos del tango de Europa. Sitges es una ciudad pequeña cerca de Barcelona en donde organizan este maravilloso festival cada verano. El festival relativo a este año será entre el 16- 20 de julio. ¡Será una oportunidad agradable para que viajemos, bailemos y disfrutemos del verano!

FINANCE CLUB & IMBA PROGRAM

This year the Entrepreneurship club has organized a Speakers Series in which students and alumni have had the opportunity to share points of views with very successful entrepreneurs like Martin Varsavsky.

Martin Varsavsky's conference attendance was impressive; so many students and alumni came that they had to sit on the floor to listen to Mr. Varsavsky discuss FON.

In the picture to the right, Varsavsky appears with the Entrepreneurship Club organizers of the event.

This year, some of our Alumni came to discuss their successful projects as well as their failures; learning from mistakes can also turn into a valuable experience.

In this picture, Miguel Ángel Perez-LLoria is sharing the lights and shades of Smart Wine, highlighting that not all projects are successful.

The Workcenter is an undeniable business success; Alfonso Senillosa was at IE with the Entrepreneurship Club.

CLIMBING

MBA Tournament

17-20/05/2007

This year the MBA tournament celebrated its 17th year of occurrence. Hosted as always by HEC in Paris, the tournament saw an inflow of about 1700 MBA candidates of almost 60 different nationalities from 15 top business schools mostly from Europe but also from other parts of the world.

This 4-day event represents the largest annual gathering of international business school students and with a variety of 24 sports ranging from football and basketball to tug of war, salsa and chess, it promotes healthy competition, cooperation and fair play.

As a bilateral but equally important part of the experience was the opportunity given to all participants to network outside their schools with people from all walks of life but with a common goal, that of becoming the leaders of tomorrow. Participants, through an array of secondary events were given the opportunity to socialize and make new bonds with people from around the world, people with whom they might meet again in their future, both in their business and personal lives.

Following IE’s tradition of strong participation, this year 175 students attended ranking the school only second in participation, an overwhelming rank considering that other schools have two year programs versus our 1 year. Students were from all three intakes of MBA courses that the school offers during the year making this one more opportunity to compete, socialize and spend time together.

And we did great. Ranking 5th in overall sport ranking, coming first in badminton and climbing and third in men’s football and basketball, out teams showed their true colours.

Having mentioned our colours, we were very proud to be sporting our school’s colours as well as the ADIDAS colours. We thank ADIDAS for its generosity and support in this tournament.

To close, we want to say that the MBAt Committee is proud to have helped to organise this event for our school and are thrilled that students returned to Madrid confirming this was a once in a lifetime experience.

Thank you to everyone that participated and made this a great experience. Good luck to the next years organising committee. May you make it an even better experience for everyone!
