Socially Responsible Consulting Day is an opportunity to explore how the landscape of consulting has changed and will continue changing due to the increased pressures for transparency and accountability. This is especially important as 2008 celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights and as governments, NGO watchdogs, and consumers increasingly call for improved labor, sourcing and environmental standards from corporations.
Through a panel discussion with consultants working in this field, individually directed workshops and a networking reception, you can offer insights related to this year's theme "Consulting and Social Responsibility: The Impact and Opportunities"

José Antonio Fernández Carbajal, Chairman y CEO de Fomento Económico Mexicano (FEMSA), la compañía de bebidas más grande de América Latina, el próximo 9 de Octubre, a las 10:30 en el Aula Nueva de María de Molina 27. En dicha conferencia, el Ing. Fernández compartirá el caso de FEMSA y las estrategias para el éxito. José Antonio Fernández Carbajal, nacido en 1954, es actualmente Chairman y CEO de FEMSA, la compañía de bebidas más grande de América Latina. FEMSA tiene sus oficinas centrales en Monterrey, Nuevo León. Es ingeniero industrial por el Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) y estudió el MBA en el EGADE. Comenzó a trabajar en FEMSA en 1987 y en 1995 se convirtió en Director General y CEO. Además, es Chairman del Consejo de Administración de FEMSA desde 2001. Es importante mencionar que es miembro del Advisory Board del IE Business School.

]]> Milonga Nights: "Milonga" is the name of both a kind of dance music and the event/place where people dance tango during the night. They are usually organized in bars, pubs, hotels, restaurants and also in some open air locals. Most of the people who come to a milonga try to dance with as many people as possible even though they don't know each other. They generally dance at least 3-4 songs with each partner and they use the time between songs to chat and know the partner. In Madrid, there are more than 15 milonga nights each week. So, we'll visit different milongas each time. (Starting from saturday-11th of October, we will go to a milonga each week in a different place and day).· Surprise "IE-Tango Club" shows: Before the summer holiday, we plan to perform in some special IE events, like we did last year in Global Village event! Performers will be the people joining to the classes during the year.
· SITGES TANGO FESTIVAL-July 2009: Tango and the beach!!! One of the most famous tango festivals in Europe. Sitges is a small town near Barcelona where they organize this wonderful festival every summer. It will be a nice opportunity for us to travel, dance and enjoy the summer!

· Noches De Milonga: "Milonga" es el nombre de un tipo de música de danza y del evento/lugar donde la gente baila tango durante la noche. La organizan generalmente en hoteles, restaurantes y también en algunos locales abiertos al aire libre. La mayoría de la gente que viene a una milonga, intenta bailar con cada persona aunque no se conocían antes. Se bailan generalmente por lo menos 3-4 canciones con cada persona y se utilizan el tiempo entre las canciones para charlar y conocer a otra persona. En Madrid, hay más de 15 milongas cada semana. Así pues, visitaremos diversas milongas cada vez. (empezando el sábado-11 de octubre, iremos a una milonga cada semana en un lugar diferente).
Demostraciones sorpresas del "IE-Tango Club": Planeamos actuar en algunos eventos del IE antes de las vacaciones del verano, como la que hicimos el año pasado en el evento Global Village. Las personas que participan a las clases durante el año, podrán actuar en estas demostraciones.
· FESTIVAL de TANGO de SITGES- Julio de 2009: ¡Tango y playa!!! Uno de los festivales más famosos del tango de Europa. Sitges es una ciudad pequeña cerca de Barcelona en donde organizan este maravilloso festival cada verano. ¡Será una oportunidad agradable para que viajemos, bailemos y disfrutemos del verano!

The acquisition of Movistar brand during 2004 gave Telefónica the opportunity to unify its presence in Latin America under a single master brand. This implied several changes not only in the company structure but also in the consumer communication. The speech will explain the measures taken to implement the new brand strategy and speak about the challenges and opportunities that arose along the process.
Jimena will show us the different elements of the launch campaign for the new brand and the results obtained with the unification.

The goal of this intensive program is helping students who
do not speak the language to communicate and interact as soon as possible with their classmates, but also, to be independent around Madrid! Accordingly, it is much more focused on speaking than in grammar.
Professors are very excited as they learn very fast!
The Consulting Club would like to invite you to our Case workshop, Thursday September 25th from 6 to 8pm. - Please arrive a little bit early so we may start on time. This is a workshop to practice cases. If you are truly serious about a career in consulting, then it is highly advisable to attend.
If possible, prior to the meeting, please create a group of 3. 1 person will be the practitioner, 1 person will be the interviewer and 1 person an observer. (2 people will also work). Be prepared & understand the cracking case frameworks/methodologies. (If you do not know, ask a consulting-club registered member to provide you with the tools/files - we will distribute the files during the workshop but waiting will put you at a disadvantage)
Ø 2 cases will be distributed with a time limit of 30-45 minutes.
Our goal is to have a case workshop every week but we strongly suggest that you also work independently as much as possible. We understand that there may be several schedule conflicts so we'll try to arrange various dates to meet all the demand.
