Workshop 1: Intermediate "en linea"
Workshop 2: Rueda Casino
We are moving it up a gear this time, so come and see how you manage!
We have chosen to get an instructor to give us a few pointers in "en linea". This is a bit different to what you may be familiar with if you are from Latin America (except Puerto Rico) or are used to "Cuban-style". It is the style that we find most danced here in Madrid and it will give you a chance to try something different.
The second workshop is in "Rueda Casino". This a really fun form of salsa that is danced in a big group, where everyone dances the same steps, as called by the leader, and where everyone gets to change partners in time with the music. It looks great!
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!!

Despite the tough winter and the heavy workload, we did it!
After 4 months of training, we were finally ³prepared² for the race. 11 MBA students accepted the challenge and took part in the San Sebastian's Sprint Triathlon (750m Swim, 20km Cycle, 5km Run), which took place last Sunday 10th of June 2007.
All of us finished the race despite the difficult conditions, the inappropriate bikes and freezing cold water!
So, please join me in congratulating our team!
A pesar del largo invierno y las cargas de trabajo los pasados meses, lo logramos!!

The Property is not in Madrid downtown so there will be a Bus Service. The bus will leave at 12:00 from IE ( Serrano) and will take you back in the same address at the end of the party
This is a typical Spanish party that takes place in a property outside Madrid downtown, it is one of the funniest and most traditional parties in Spain, so it is a great opportunity, especially if you are a foreigner studying at IE. However, it is important to consider that if you do not like to drink alcohol, stay awake late or your cultural background does not allow you to eat certain food like red meat, it is not advisable for you to come because unless you have a car you won’t be able to return to Madrid downtown until the buses are schedule to return to Madrid downtown.
It is advisable to consider wearing comfortable shoes, especially if you plan to go down with the heifer.
Please CHECK THE WEATHER, you should wear a comfortable sweater, jacket or long sleeve shirt. It may be a nice weather but the property is in a high point of the Madrid Community and it may be cold.
They say that people in IT and Finance are sometimes introverted, but this is a stereotype which does not apply to our students of the MFM and the MMTDB. The other day we held the Cross-cultural workshop and you should have seen them!. Who would have imagined that the first thing they did at IE was play cards!
We discussed how dangerous it is to use stereotypes, and also talked about miscommunications sometimes due to lack of language proficiency … I have to tell you the story they told me about a guy from the United States who went to do business in Colombia, and as it is customary, was invited to have dinner and go dancing. Everything was great except for the fact that it was too hot on the dance floor. Suddenly everything froze when he said in his poor Spanish “Tengo que parar chicas. Uf, estoy muy caliente!” Can you guess why?
Even native Spanish speakers who speak the same language as a mother tongue often have misunderstandings. Just ask a Spaniard when they plan to arrive at a party that they have been told begins at nine!.

The CAPEA is a typical Spanish party which consists of playful bull-fighting a young heifer in a typical Spanish environment, usually in a small bull fight arena, all of this in a party ambiance with your friends and colleagues. This typical party includes an all included barbecue with traditional Spanish gastronomy, beer, wine and many more!!!!! It is a great opportunity to get in touch with one of the most traditional parties in Spain. It is important to say that the young bull IS NOT killed or HARMED and that everybody can participate in the party!!!! (If you have guts).

On October 31st, more than 300 IE students partied at a popular Madrid disco to celebrate Halloween. The IE IMBA class of 2006 sponsored the IE Halloween Party (Halloween Fiesta de Disfraces) and classmates attended from all IE programs (including IMBA 2005, EMBA, MBA and other masters programs). Until 6 am, the disco CATS was crowded with scary witches, sexy devils, bloody vampires, dancing cowgirls and escaped prisoners.
The award for the best male and female costumes were given to Spiros Milonas (IMBA 2006, Greece) and Berna Kosal (IMBA 2006), Turkey (pictured). Spiros dressed as baby Leonor, the daughter born that morning to Princess Letizia and Prince Felipe. Berna dressed as a pirate.
